Awesome Helmet
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I had been renting helmets and hated them all. I hate worn helmets for all kinds of sports, but never for snowboarding. I looked around and found this one and read the review and the price seemed right. I am really happy with it. It fits great, really light, doesn’t get in the way, and way cheaper then a lot of others and it is just as good.

I wanted my son to wear a helmet, so I had to set a good example for him and get one too. I’ve never had one before, but having bought a few helmets for my son and his cousins I had a chance to see a few up close.

The first difference I noticed is that unlike almost all other helmets I have see it does not have any vent holes. I thought this might be a problem, but after wearing it 4 days I did not think it was uncomfortable. I did not feel as if I really needed the vents under the conditions I used it under, 30 deg and light winds.

This brings up another issue. While I did not overheat with the helmet, my head did sweat and I am sure that after a while the helmet will start to smell. From my initial check, there is no way to pull out the liner to wash it. That is a pretty big omission.

The other thing I noticed right away, when compared to other helmets, is that this is a heavy helmet. It felt 50% heavier than other helmets. This was only noticeable when picking it up. Once I was wearing it, I did not notice the extra weight.

One issue I did have is with google fit. I have some bolle x9 OTG googles. These are a bit on the large side and don’t match up so well with this helmet. The helmet keeps pushing the googles down. A bit annoying, but not too bad. Next helmet I buy will be tested with googles before I keep it.

At the price I paid, $40, I am happy with the helmet. Had it been more expensive I would have passed on it because of the lack of vents and the liner that cannot be taken out to wash.

decent helmet

A decent helmet, priced alright, got it as an inexpensive hard ear helmet for racing since my current one has soft ears
