Potential life-saver

This helmet was first purchased for my 3 yr old son last year. On the first day he went over the handlbars of his new bike in the driveway, leaving a nasty scratch right where his little forehead would have been. But I am compelled to write this review today because of what happened in my workshop.

He was playing “construction worker” with his Bell “Shadow” toddler helmet on. I did not notice him tipping a 4 foot by 8 foot playhouse wall frame (made from very heavy treated lumber) over, that I had irresponsibly left leaning against a wall. I turned and saw him trying to get out of the way but the top (horizontal) 2×4 landed on his head, that was sandwiched between the cement floor and the frame. The helmet has cracked plastic on the right front side and the interior styrofoam is cracked to the opposite side at the back. He is fine and I feel like the luckiest person alive today.

I realize this is not what the helmet is intended for, but as a parent I hope to show how well made these things are. My biggest advice would be make sure it fits snugly. I also agree that this helmet is for at least 3 year olds, probably 4 year olds. We are going into town tomorrow to get another one and the kids are not allowed in the workshop again.

Good value

The color is much lighter and a pale lavendar. Very cute and my daughter loves it. A little too big for an 18 month old, tightens up good though. Much cheaper than in the stores.

Not good for a toddler
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I bought this helmet thinking it would be good for my 22 month old toddle since it does say toddler bicycle helmet. It was too big and it just kept covering her eyes that finally she got irritated and now doesn’t want to wear a helmet (not good) This helmet is more for a 3year old or even older..it shouldnt be advertise as a toddler should say “child helmet”.

It is a very cute helmet, good price, just too big for a 2 year old. I didn’t realize that when I ordered it, but it does say on the tag that it is for 3+ years.
